Safety

Built for the trip you take at 11pm.

Safety features that work for the rider and the captain alike — because both are on the same trip, and both need to get home.

In an emergency, call 112

112 reaches the police, fire and ambulance services across India. Use it first if you’re in immediate danger. Then press SOS in the app so our safety team has your location and trip details.

During a trip

What the trip screen gives you.

SOS
One button, for riders and captains alike. It alerts our safety team with your live location and trip details, and records the alert against the trip.
Live trip sharing
A link showing your position, route, captain and vehicle. It opens in any browser — no app needed — stops updating when the trip ends, and you can revoke it at any time.
Messaging
Chat with your captain without giving out your number. Stays available for a short while after the trip, so a lost item doesn't need a support ticket.
Calling
Call from the trip screen when a message won't do, without either side seeing the other's number.
Route history
Every trip's actual route is recorded. If something goes wrong there is a record of what happened, rather than two conflicting accounts.
Pink rides
Women riders can book a woman captain. Enforced by the system rather than requested: a Pink booking is only ever offered to women captains, and waits rather than being handed to anyone else.
Before a trip

Who is allowed to drive.

Nobody accepts a ride on Snapp without completing identity verification, submitting a valid driving licence, and registering their vehicle with its registration certificate and insurance. Our team reviews every submission before the account can go online.

We track expiry dates on all three. A captain whose licence, registration or insurance has lapsed is taken offline until it’s renewed — no exceptions, and no grace period, because an uninsured vehicle on a trip is a problem for everyone in it.

What you can check yourself

  • The captain’s name and photo, before they arrive.
  • The vehicle model, colour and number plate. If the plate doesn’t match, don’t get in.
  • Their rating, and how many trips they’ve completed.
After a trip

Reporting something that went wrong.

Open the trip in your history and report it. Pick the category that fits — safety, the fare, the vehicle’s condition, conduct, or a lost item. Every report reaches our team, is recorded against that trip, and is reviewed. Safety reports are prioritised above everything else.

If you can’t get into the app, you can report it from this website. If you’re not satisfied with how we handle it, our grievance process sets out how to escalate, including to our Grievance Officer.
